Industry in Wyoming County, PA

With several large metropolitan areas just hours away, Wyoming County is Ideally placed for regional sales and transport.  Hundreds of businesses exist throughout the area, meeting the needs of residents and visitors.  Accounting, banking and legal services are all available, advertising agencies, media concerns and insurance services.  Yet Wyoming County maintains its peaceful rural atmosphere — an atmosphere that supports a variety of growth and enhancement industries.  Excavating, landscaping and carpentry firms all exist throughout the county, in turn supporting an array of industrial suppliers, hardware dealers and petroleum sales.  Consumer services also thrive: portrait studios, hair salons, spas and grocery stores fill the area, and there are several auto dealers and repair shops.

Agriculture makes a strong contribution to the areas economy.  Wyoming County rural setting is dotted with farms The predominant forms of agriculture are dairy farming and veal production Large Corporate labels and stipulations do not consume these farms; the majority of these establishments are locally owned and operated. Lush farmland can be seen for miles and miles in many parts of the county.

Another major industry in the Wyoming County region is hospitality.  Tourists are drawn here by the regions beauty, history, amenities and convenient location close to major metropolitan regions. Restaurants, retail concerns and lodgings all thrive here. Variety is the key when it comes to shopping in Wyoming County.  Unique specialty shops are in abundance, a popular draw for tourists. Stores feature such items as antiques, gift items, quilting supplies, wicker furniture and baskets, woodwork pieces, crafts, and jewelry.

So far, we have painted a picture of country charm; one might think that Wyoming County rural location would keep it out of the corporate arena.  But the area has in fact been the birthplace of international corporations.  Large businesses have discovered that the county is ideally located to offer easyand convenient transport; the area is also a substantially less expensive place to conduct operations than metropolitan settings.  Businesses here have also found a work force with rock-solid work ethics and first-rate training.
