Wyoming County Historical Society Open House The Wyoming County Historical Society will host its 17th annual
open house on May 18th from 1-4PM.
Admission is free and families are encouraged to bring their children.
The Society’s genealogical library and museum are located in the Old Harrison Street School Building on the corner of Harrison and Bridge Streets in Tunkhannock.
Special one day displays this year will include: Model Railroad Displays of the D.A.R.N. N-Trak, a Delaware County, PA model railroad club. This year you will be able to see a module in progress of Tunkhannock ca. 1900. D.A.R.N members, Jaimie Woods and David Savage, will be in attendance to answer any questions on the N-Trak railroad displays. The Buttermilk Falls module won second place in the module contest at the 2006 National Model Railroad Association Expo in Philadelphia. Other items of interest will include coin display, 1811 land certificate of John Harding & Benjamin Jenkins, different types of petrified wood, hadiosaur dinosaur egg (late Cretaceous, +/- 100 million years old), a signed Japanese WWII flag from Guadalcanal and a piece of iron-nickel meteorite from Russia.
